Membership


General Information
The Greater Manassas Volunteer Rescue Squad (GMVRS) is a mix service of paid and volunteer staff. We have several openings in the volunteer areas. The openings range from Auxiliary Staffers, who provide support services throughout the year, to full blown Emergency Technicians, who run calls and provide medical care to our community. Typically a volunteer who wants to participates on the calls must run one night a week and one weekend duty tour every six weeks.

If you are interested in volunteering please either gives us a call or stop by the station to pickup an application and discuss the possiblities with a crew leader or a line officer.

      

Senior Member

These members are the backbone of the squad. Emergency Medical Technicians staff our ambulances and provide care for our community. Becoming a Senior Member of the GMVRS is an honor that comes with a number of important responsibilities, all of which come under the heading of SERVICE … to the Patient, your Crew, the Squad, and the Community. Key duties and responsibilities include:
  • Provide quality patient care on all calls
  • Meet assigned duty crew night obligations – once a week and on designated weekends
  • Maintain personal EMT proficiencies and certifications
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of GMVRS medical protocols and directives
  • Comply with Station rules and Standing Orders
  • Attend and participate in GMVRS monthly member business meetings
  • Perform all EMS duties safely
  • Support Squad-sponsored activities and participate in community events where EMS services are needed and/or involved
  • Act in a way that reflects favorably on the GMVRS, especially when on duty and/or in uniform

Junior Member

Greater Manassas Volunteer Rescue Squad has for many years supported a Junior program to help provide school age and young adults an avenue to experience real life EMS situations and to explore many different EMS positions. Our junior team typically under goes the same training and education programs as our senior members.

If you would like to join the Junior Squad of the Greater Manassas Volunteer Rescue Squad, please stop by or call the station. We are always looking for new people to help our organziation grow.


Auxiliary Member
The Greater Manassas Volunteer Rescue Squad (GMVRS) Auxiliary is an organization that directly supports the activities and operations of the GMVRS with various fund-raisers and functions. Although we work hand-in-hand with the volunteer members and career staff, we do not assist them in direct operational capacity. Our efforts are to better enable the volunteer members and career staff to perform their jobs by providing funding and other supporting services. We are looking to make our membership grow so that we may be able to better provide more support to our crews. If you would like to join the GMVRS Auxiliary, please feel free to stop by the station on any second Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM for one of our business meetings. We are always looking for new people to help our organziation grow.
